My instrument is the Hammond Organ, as you can tell I really love groovy music. I've been collecting it since my teens, and one day an idea phased me... why just collect it? Why spend my whole life merely looking for the perfect album -- why not create the music too??? And that's when I decided to become a musician.
The style I play is basically called "soul Jazz" or "organ groove", but it has elements of bebop, swing, hard bop, Gospel, blues and R&B. -- Although people respond very positively to it, musicians who really understand the style are rare, so when I opened my club "Eddie's Lounge" I tried to recreate the atmosphere of an old East Coast organ room, but with a twist. I mixed it with a Jazz Izakaya concept. --The endeavor was fun, but exhausting to say the least. Today, I would very much like to make a new organ groove or R&B band... but will only do so if I can find some young musicians who are interested in studying and creating a unique sound. -- To me, the Jazz I play is not a thing of the past... nor is it art for art's sake... it is a living groove... and grooves are made to make people happy and get them up and dancing!!! musicians:
